If captions stopped or looked wrong, a diagnostic report helps enormously. In the app: Settings, then tap the version number seven times, then Generate report and Send report. The report contains no audio and no transcript text — settings, counters and log lines only.
Common questions
- Why is a word in heavier type?
- Because it was stressed. Undersong measures loudness, pitch movement and timbre against your own voice over the last half minute, and renders the result as weight. It is not an emotion classifier and it does not label how anyone feels.
- Nothing appears, but the status bar says it is listening.
- Check the spoken language in Settings — it is separate from the app's own language, and the wrong one produces confident nonsense or nothing at all. Then check Input: if you use a hearing aid or cochlear implant, its microphone may be worse for captioning than the iPhone's own.
- Does my audio leave the phone?
- No. Recognition runs on the iPhone and the app contains no networking code at all. See the privacy policy.
- Can I keep what was said?
- Only if you switch on Save transcripts. They stay on the device, and Delete all transcripts removes them.
- Do captions continue when the screen locks?
- Yes. Stopping mid-conversation without telling you would be the worst thing this app could do, so it keeps captioning until you press Stop.
